At the start of the term, every student adopted a pet – George the frog, Emily the elephant, Ronda the lion, Fred the cat, and Xenia the bear. Each adoption came with a certificate and a set of pet care rules to follow.

Throughout the week, students earn daily £1 tokens for their hard work in lessons and special £2 tokens for completing homework. These tokens can then be spent on fun items like mini furniture and animal companions to build a home for their pet.

In maths, the children total up their money each week and make the important decision of whether to spend or save. This engaging activity not only makes learning fun, but also helps students develop real-world budgeting skills.

The desk pet project will continue all year, and we can’t wait to see how the students choose to spend or save their money as their pets’ homes grow!
