Celebrating Chinese New Year

Two boys with the dancing chinese dragons they have made.

Foundation have had a fantastic time learning about Chinese New Year.

The children listened to the story The Great Race and enjoyed finding out how Chinese New Year is traditionally celebrated. They created their own dancing dragons and hanging lanterns, and had a go at copying some Chinese numerals. The children also loved trying a range of Chinese foods, with chicken chow mein, egg-fried rice and prawn crackers proving to be firm favourites, and they even had a go at using chopsticks. To finish the celebrations, everyone enjoyed a sweet treat with fortune cookies.
