Horticulture & Forest School
During Terms 5 and 6, students in Horticulture and Forest School have been developing their knowledge and practical skills in planting and plant care.
Students have explored the full planting process, from sowing seeds and understanding the conditions needed for germination, to transplanting young seedlings into larger pots and containers. They have also been creating hanging baskets and planted containers, learning how to select suitable plants, prepare compost, and arrange plants to encourage healthy growth and attractive displays.
As part of their learning, students have been discovering the importance of ongoing plant maintenance. They have practised correct watering techniques, learning how different plants have different water requirements and how to recognise signs of overwatering and under watering. Through hands-on activities, students have gained an understanding of how sunlight, drainage, and regular care contribute to healthy plants.
