English excitement

Students on the magical purple Knight Bus at the Harry Potter studios

It has been an exciting term for the English Department, with students enjoying a wide range of learning opportunities both inside and outside the classroom.

Mercury, Neptune and Saturn classes had a fantastic day at the Sky Up Academy, where they stepped into the world of film and television production. Working in teams, students planned, filmed and edited their own pitch films, while also learning about the many careers available within the creative industries. The day was a brilliant opportunity to develop communication, creativity and teamwork skills.

Mars and Mercury classes also enjoyed a magical visit to the Warner Bros. Harry Potter Studio Tour. The trip brought our class reading to life, allowing students to explore the iconic sets, costumes and props from the films. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm as they discovered how the stories they have been studying were created for the screen.

In the classroom, students have continued to explore a diverse range of texts, from the works of Shakespeare to the magical world of Harry Potter. Meanwhile, our GCSE students have been working hard to complete their English Language Paper 1 mock examinations and are preparing for their Functional Skills Level 2 assessments. We are incredibly proud of the effort and determination they have shown.
