Food Production and Cookery programme

All of our new level 2 students demonstrated excellent skills during a practical assessment for their Level 2 Food Production and Cookery City & Guilds programme.  We were very impressed by the professional and positive approach they took.

The students made stuffed peppers, working in the school kitchen to experience a professional catering environment.  They arrived in the correct uniform and remained clean, tidy and well presented throughout the session. They began by collecting their ingredients and carefully checking them before starting the preparation. They communicated effectively with staff to confirm the task and ensure they understood the requirements.

They successfully prepared the peppers, made the couscous and fried off the vegetables before carefully stuffing the peppers and finishing them with cheese. Throughout the practical, they followed the required food safety, hygiene and preparation procedures, demonstrating good organisation and attention.

They also worked well as part of the team, communicating positively with others and contributing effectively to the smooth running of the kitchen.

Overall, the students all showed good practical cookery skills, teamwork, organisation and professional standards, demonstrating all the skills and knowledge required.  And, they got to take home their dishes to eat!
