Ruth dedicated over 20 years to Heathermount School, serving as Headteacher for her final four years before retiring in 2017. In the same year, she was awarded an OBE for services to special educational needs and disabilities, in recognition of her contribution to the sector.

Craig and members of the Senior Leadership Team thoroughly enjoyed catching up with Ruth over coffee, sharing memories and learning from her experience. A tour of the school gave Ruth the opportunity to see the new school refurbishments and see staff and students at work – including some familiar faces from her own time at the school.

The visit concluded with an interview by three students, Ben, Amaan and Nathaniel, from our school newspaper, The Heathermount Herald. They asked Ruth about her favourite memories of Heathermount, the advice she would offer Craig, and her experience of meeting the Queen at Windsor Castle.

A big thank you to Ruth for giving up her time to visit us! It was wonderful to welcome her back.
