Careers Education within the curriculum is interconnected with the transition support that our students receive. The curriculum covers:

Work experience within school:
All students who undertake Catering, Horticulture and Business Admin (BA) are required as part of the course to experience working conditions, as well as develop the: skills, knowledge and behaviours expected within the world of work. This is conducted within a safe and protected environment, however, allowing students to put their skills and qualities into action and receive both formative and summative feedback on their development. As a school we are very proud that several students, who through their experiences at Heathermount are now employed by the school.

Heathermount School Provider access
The statement below sets out the school’s arrangements for managing the access of providers to students at the school. The purpose is to give students information about providers education, training, opportunities. This complies with the school’s legal obligations under Section 42B of the Education Act 1997.
Student Entitlement
All students in years 8-14 are entitled to:
- The responsible authorities for a school in England within subsection (2) must secure that all registered pupils at the school are provided with independent careers guidance during the relevant phase of their education to find out about appropriate and relevant education qualifications and apprenticeship opportunities. This includes the new Technical Training opportunities
