Dog Show!

Poster for Heathermount's first ever dog show featuring paper mache dogs

Jupiter and Pluto classes have recently completed an ambitious and imaginative art project centred around the theme of dogs. Over the course of several weeks, pupils explored a variety of materials and techniques while developing important skills such as perseverance, decision-making, problem-solving, and independence.

Throughout the project, students created a range of final pieces. These included vibrant dog head designs made by cutting and arranging coloured geometric shapes, 3D dog sculptures made from recycled egg boxes, and marbled paper woven into the coats of 2D puppies. The culmination of the project saw pupils designing their own 2D dog and bringing them to life using papier-mâché to create unique 3D models.

In addition, pupils also learnt how to create art for a specific audience. All of their finished dog sculptures were showcased in Heathermount’s very own Dog Show, where Primary pupils took on the role of judges and voted for their favourite creations.  See our Dog Show Gallery for photos.  The winning dogs will be announced next week!

The project has been a fantastic opportunity for students to express themselves creatively while building key life and learning skills.
