Dream Horse visit to Ascot racecourse

Students with the Dream Horse at Ascot Racecourse

In May, eight of our pupils took part in an exciting workshop with the community art group Busy Buttons. During the session, each pupil created an individual artwork to contribute to a large collaborative piece, the Dream Horse sculpture, which was exhibited at Ascot Racecourse over the summer.

This project gave pupils the opportunity to showcase their creativity in a high-profile exhibition, while also highlighting the importance of sustainability, recycling, and environmental responsibility. Using recycled materials sourced from Ascot Racecourse itself, pupils helped design a vibrant, interactive artwork.

On Tuesday 30th September, pupils were invited to visit Ascot Racecourse to see the completed Dream Horse sculpture in place. The day also included a guided tour featuring the history of the racecourse and its royal heritage, access to normally restricted areas, and a behind-the-scenes look at what happens on a race day. A highlight for many was meeting and feeding a retired racehorse.

The visit was a wonderful chance for pupils to see their contributions on display in such a prestigious setting. We are grateful to Ascot Racecourse for the warm welcome, with each pupil even leaving with a goody bag to round off the day.   See our Dream Horse Gallery for more photos of the trip.
