It has been another busy term in maths. Here are some of the highlights.
GCSE students have been working hard this term, learning about rounding to a specified number of decimal places and significant figures. They then moved onto collecting and representing data, including making accurate pie charts, cumulative frequency graphs, box plots and histograms.
Saturn and Neptune have tested conjectures and proved them true, false or sometimes true. The evidence they gave was well thought out and reliable. After that they worked with 3D shapes, finding their surface area, volume and faces, edges and vertices.
These pictures show Neptune using nets to understand surface area:

Saturn enjoyed performing the FOIL (First, Outer, Inner, Last) dance!
Mercury completed the block on multiplying and dividing fractions, which they struggled with but persevered. Then, they moved onto working in the Cartesian Plane; including the four quadrants, graphing coordinates and points and learning about graphing linear equations using Jean’s large cartesian coordinate system (aka her special shower curtain).
Below you can see Mercury discovering linear graphs:

Mars spent the first part of this term learning about algebra. They identified how to simplify expressions, multiply and divide algebraic expressions and solve one and two-step linear equations. The second part of the term has been focused on place value; including decimals. They used a place value grid to support their learning during lessons.
The photos show Mars students learning about place value including on number lines.
