Heathermount students take flight

On 25th November, five students from Heathermount School, visited Maidenhead Heritage Centre and flew a Spitfire in a flight simulator and explored the history of the local area. One of the pupils is currently taking an AQA project qualification about flying and flight simulators and this trip provided him with many ideas for his project work. AQA is an awarding body in various subjects at GCSE, AS and A Level and offers vocational qualifications.

Henry, a Heathermount student said: “I learnt how to gently fly the plane and I had fun too.” Deputy Head Ben Robinson said: “This trip created a great opportunity for our students to experience what its like to fly a Spitfire and to see visit the wider community.”
