Leopards Class

Leopards Class is set up to get the students ready for learning. We focus on the student’s wellbeing and sensory needs as well as their academic needs. It is important for a student to be able to regulate their body and feelings in order for them to learn effectively. We use many sensory activities within our sessions to help the students to fulfil their sensory needs and to overcome any hypersensitivity to texture, sound and light. We work closely with the Occupational Therapist and Speech and Language Therapist to ensure that each student gets an individualised programme to help them with their specific needs.

The academic and vocational curriculum is differentiated to enable all students to access it. We are following the Read, Write, Inc programme in English which teaches the letter sounds and blending at the appropriate level for the students. As well as English the students are taught Maths, Science, PSHE, Computer Science, History and Geography. RE is taught within assembly and other subjects. The students are also taught Catering, Horticulture, Art, PE and Life Skills.

In Leopards we believe that there is potential in all our students, they just need the right tools to help them achieve it.
